Sensitive aid for Nepal

IN DELORAINE, Dr Lois Beckwith, International Director for the Rotary Club of Deloraine, is leading a band of volunteers for ‘Days For Girls International’ in making up kits to help girls in Nepal gain access to quality, sustainable feminine hygiene products.

Dr Beckwith is supported by Ms Lorraine Clark who explained that these kits meant the girls, who normally would have to stay at home for at least five days every month, would still be able to attend school.

Ms Clarke said that their ‘Days For Schools International’ fundraising stand at the Tasmanian Art and Craft Fair last November was very successful.

Dr Beckwith will be delivering 550 kits to a school in Nepal in February this year.

Each kit consists of a draw string bag containing an instruction sheet, shields, pads, a washcloth, travel size soap, zip lock bags and panties.

Donations are always welcome and if you are interested in volunteering to help in any way, ‘Days for Girls International’ meets once a month at the Rotary Pavilion to make up the kits.

You can contact Ms Clarke on 0473 194 880 for further information. To find out more about ‘Days For Girls International’ visit the website at www.daysforgirls.org.
