Marakoopa Café picks up top gong at Catering Awards

Marakoopa Café near Mole Creek has won the ONE Music Excellence Award category at the 2022 VIC TAS Australia Restaurant Catering Hostplus Awards for Excellence.

Co-owner Lars  and Sarah Cooper say, “It’s an honour to be recognized for our commitment to connect musicians and audience for intimate performance experiences.

“Because we have often needed to travel to the major population centres to enjoy live music, we felt we should bring amazing artists here and share our love of live music with our community.

“So we set about creating a unique performance space consisting of an outdoor amphitheatre and intimate indoor performance space.”

The Awards for Excellence is a nationally recognised, independently judged awards program that celebrates exceptional service and culinary talent across the state.

More than 130 local restaurants, cafes and catering businesses gathered to celebrate the achievements of their peers who were judged in over 45 categories.

Judging criteria for the Awards for Excellence are determined by consumers who rank what is important to them in the dining experience.

The Awards are judged by an independent team of trained judges who anonymously visit the venues to determine the restaurant/café winners.

The scores are based on the entire dining experience from food to the customer service experienced when the judges anonymously dine.

More than 130 local restaurants, cafes and catering businesses gathered to celebrate the achievements of their peers who were judged in over 45 categories, with the winners announced at the Awards for Excellence ceremony held at Zinc at Federation Square in Melbourne.
